Black 2021 DNA Files

A new body of work which explores the essence of her DNA and that of major artists, in black.

KARL Black “DNA Files” is the second suite of work that is an extensive enquiry into my ancestry.

​

Running alongside this research into my heritage and how our past influences our present, is another more imminent question of the influences of those artists who have gone before us, who have used black as their colour of choice.

​

The partnering of art and architecture accentuates the power and abstraction of black, allowing the act of painting to be front and centre - this is what the viewer gets to experience in an intimate environment.
